Testimonial by Prof Dr Daphne M. Tequillo-Mallari, EDS/Akamai PhD in Management in 2012

WHAT EDS STANDS FOR

By Daphne M. Tequillo-Mallari
(PhD Management, 2012)

My enrollment at EDS Business School (EDS) started more on curiosity than on knowledge building. Being a Certified Public Accountant whose inclination is on the practicalities of life, I tend to look more on providing solutions to problems rather than on building theories. Thus, similar to people from my profession, getting a higher education is least on my priority list.

My stay at EDS, however, expanded my paradigm. EDS has designed a curriculum in small packages consisting of workable theories that are easy to assimilate, highly practical and mentally stimulating. Designed for executives and professionals, the program may be completed in a year or two depending on the amount of effort and concentration one is willing to give.

This curriculum format is a welcome change from those of us who have been used to the more traditional educational system but it does not end there. The most outstanding feature of EDS is its ability to institute intervention to make a positive difference.

The diploma I received from Akamai University through EDS helped me to believe in my ability and emboldens me to seek new avenues to share my talents with. EDS helped me realize that a diploma is not just a certificate of completion but rather a commitment to contribute an idea, an effort and an action for positive change. I am now connected with the University Research Office of Palawan State University and I have experienced personal and career fulfillment knowing that I am spreading my wings simultaneously learning, sharing and contributing to my university in a new way.

This for me is what EDS stands for.

Testimonial from EDS DBA and PhD in Management Students

Mr. Atif Hassan's Testimonial from Karachi, Pakistan

It is both professionally inspiring and intellectually rewarding to write my testimonial after attending the “FANTABULOUS” doctoral residential session at Penang.

I appreciate the efforts of Prof. Dr Ben Lee in careful selection of dynamic and experienced faculty members. The vibrant and devoted staff has made my stay generously facilitating and academically rewarding. This was a blend of corporate, cultural and academic learning summed up in one residential session.

Mr. Mohd Ramlee Ramlee Said's Testimonial

The modules designed for the DBA program is really reflect the motto of EDS Business School that is “We teach the future today”.

The lecturers are very knowledgeable and experience in their business of expertise and teach me what is not found in the text books. The use of extensive real life case studies and the latest news of business trends are really an eye opener for me.

The concepts taught during the program can be applied immediately in the workplace. I am working in an international company based in Middle East and this program help me enhanced my leadership skills in managing both people and multiple projects.

Keep it up EDS Business School!

Request for Proposal: Literacy Courseware Challenge

By:

Personalized learning will revolutionize the way we think about education. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is launching a challenge to entice publishers, developers, and entrepreneurs to propose the most innovative digital solutions for engaging, personalized software that helps students with reading and writing.

The Impact We Intend to Support

Our vision for education is that all students have access to what they need, when they need it. For some this will mean accelerating beyond the fixed pace of today’s classroom. For others it will mean being given opportunities for extended practice of skills or content they have yet to master. For all students, it will mean learning experiences that are tailored specifically to their progress against a clear set of academic standards; receiving constant, actionable information on their progress; and experiencing the deep, one-on-one engagement with their teacher and other students that is often missing from today’s classrooms. We and many others call this vision personalized learning.

We believe that adaptive digital learning tools, or “courseware,” can extend the reach of teachers to make personalized learning possible, particularly for students who are underserved by the current education system. Leading mathematics courseware products have already produced strong evidence that this is possible.
