TESTIMONIAL

The goal that I had set aside for a long time is now a reality……It was not easy as many other goals were there to pursue. But on June 6, 2009 I will be graduating at the American Heritage University with my Doctor of Business Administration degree. I had this goal of finishing my doctoral program for a long time, but because of my work and responsibilities in the university , aside from managing my cargo forwarding company, I never thought I would be able to have time to complete my DBA program. The collaboration and partnership between EDS Advance Academy in Malaysia, American Heritage University, San Bernardino California and thePalawan State University, Philippines, made it possible for me to pursue my educational journey.
/
I was granted a scholarship by Palawan State University, where I am Dean of the College ofHospitality Management and Tourism. The timetable given to me was to complete the program and join the graduation in June 2009. I took the Residential Program in Penang Malaysia,, and from then on I attended seminars and trainings for the bridging program. In January 2009, I attended the 5-days Doctoral Research Competency Workshop under Professor Dr Arivalan Ramaiyah. It was an experience that encouraged me to focus on achieving my goal. By the end of the 5 days research training I have already drafted Chapters 1-3 of my dissertation paper. MyResearch Supervisor, Dr Arivalan’s challenging questions and thoughtful feedback strengthened my ideas. He guided me throughout the process of writing my paper. I owe him gratitude for always being there to answer my questions and for leading me up to the finish line.
/
It was difficult to stay focused doing research while at the same time reporting for work everyday. I had to sacrifice, staying late and giving up precious sleep just so I could work on my paper. I also realized that difficult circumstances can make us more determined to succeed, if we just keep the right attitude and the passion to do it. My family and good friends inspired me and gave me strength to continue with my educational journey and fulfill my dreams. As I worked on my paper every night, the more I feel the burning desire to fulfill my dreams and finish what I have started. Mine was a fixed timetable I had to ensure I follow. It was a journey of many discoveries and with the concern and strong support of Dr Ben Lee and Dr Pete Ooi of the EDS Advance Academy, I was able to complete all the bridging programs and other requirements within the time frame. I am very thankful that I was “at the right train, with the right people, at the right time”.

THE Penang Skills Development Corporation (PSDC) has invested about RM100,000 to provide each Bayan Baru household with an Effective Microorganism (EM) starter kit over the next year in an effort to green Penang.

“We hope to encourage the 1,000-household Bayan Baru community to make and use the EM Activated Solution (EMAS) in their household,” said PSDC chief executive officer Datuk Boonler Somchit.

“The EMAS will flow into the river system and improve the water quality, especially for the Sungai Nibong Kechil which flows around the Free Trade Zone Phase 2,” he said at a press conference on Thursday to announce PSDC’s 20th anniversary celebration.

PSDC management council chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Sofi Osman, who is also Advanced Micro Devices Export (M) Sdn Bhd vice-president, said the centre hoped the industrial players would understand that they should not be the biggest contributors to environment pollution.
