Associate Professor Arivalan Ramaiyah of EDS Business School conducted an intensive five-day DBA Research Competency Workshop on 20 to 24 January at Palawan State University, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.

The DBA research workshop provided an intensive overview of quantitative, qualitative, and participatory action research methods, with emphasis upon subject selection, research design, and statistical analysis,. Through this workshop, participants learn to effectively define applied problems or theoretical issues and articulate the rationale for the study. They learn to present an effective scholarly review of the academic literature and implement appropriate research methods for evaluating academic issues for success in their final doctoral dissertation.

Ari encouraging students Puerto Princesa City is the capital of the island province of Palawan. The city is acclaimed among the cleanest and greenest cities in the Philippines. With a wide range of attractions ranging from beaches to wildlife reserves, Puerto Princesa is a nature lover's paradise. This proved an ideal gathering site for the DBA seminar.

On Monday, 25 January, EDS and PSU conducted a one day trip for the DBA seminar participants to Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, also known as the Underground River., a site declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. At over 8 kilometers in length, the subterranean waterway is reputably the longest underground river in the world. With its crystalline waters and spectacular cave formations, the Underground River has become on of Puerto Princesa's most popular attractions. The DBA participants enjoyed this field tri immensely!
