For Joint Training Project with Tibetan Entrepreneurs
On 8 - 14 May 2010, through a joint venture of EDS Business School and The Bridge Fund, sixteen Tibetan Entrepreneurs, originating from Tibet, Qinghai, Yunnan, and Sichuan Province in China, participated in a dynamic training program held at B-Suite Hotel in Penang. The Tibetan participants, business owners and managers, attended the training as a consequence of a Bridge Fund training grant awarded to EDS Business School. The grant supported 16 Tibetan entrepreneurs in a week-long EDS business management training in Penang. The mission of the grant was building a stronger network among targeted Tibetan enterprises and international institutions for the advancement of business. On 8 May 2010, the Penang Government hosted a welcoming dinner for the Tibetan Participants.
The Bridge Fund grant is an important element of the EDS Community Service Project, following the EDS mission to share the latest management practices, success ideas, inspiration and insights to help entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, managers and executives of business organization and non-governmental organizations (NGO) across cultures to enhance competitiveness in today’s challenging business environment. The Advanced Management Program sponsored by EDS presented to the Tibetan Entrepreneurs to improve their operational efficiency, encourage continuous lifelong learning, and support business networking.

The Bridge Fund (TBF) is a nongovernmental, nonprofit charitable organization that provides support for sustainable economic development, environmental conservation and cultural preservation programs in Western China.

As an alternative to attendance at one of the above training modules, the Tibetan participants were provided the opportunity to attend a seminar on Penang Investment Opportunities especially organized by the InvestPenang.
InvestPenang, established during 2004, is a non-profit entity of the Penang State Government with the sole purpose of promoting investments within Penang. InvestPenang aims to sustain, rejuvenate and further promote business activity through continued investments and at the same time explore profitable new growth areas. InvestPenang is staffed with experienced and capable talent who facilitate investment with unparalleled dedication. In essence, InvestPenang ensures sustainable development by providing information and resources to investors; enhancing Penang’s business friendly environment; strengthening Penang’s competitive edge; promoting investment; supporting growth of existing companies; and facilitating growth of domestic industries.
