Myanmar Minister Endorses EDS Business School and Akamai University

On 20 December 2016, His Excellency Dr. Win Thein, Myanmar Minister and Chairman of Union Civil Service Board the Republic of the Union of Myanmar a written endorsement of the programs and faculty of the EDS Business School, Malaysia, and Akamai University, Hawaii, USA. He expressed appreciation for his honored attendance at the joint 2016 EDS and Akamai University convocation where he was keynote speaker and presented a detailed talk concerning his work to transform the Myanmar Civil Service System to assure the highest quality of the workforce.

His Excellency Dr. Win Thein was the keynote speaker at the joint 2016 EDS and Akamai University convocation on 11 December 2017, George Town, Penang, Malaysia

In his letter, His Excellency Dr. Win Thein praised and recommended EDS Business School and Akamai University for the high quality of their postgraduate management and education graduates in attendance at the convocation. He also commented that he was very impressed with the exceptionally high quality of the EDS and Akamai faculty members in attendance, with whom he was able to have meaningful professional dialogue.

His Excellency Dr. Win Thein also stated that, given the outstanding quality of the programs and faculty, and the ease with which he was able to work with the Akamai and EDS principals, he wanted to encourage EDS Business School and Akamai University to make available the high quality business and education programs to the civil service personnel and the general public in Myanmar. He asked for dialogue concerning how to make an active collaboration could become a functional reality.

Given that there is an expansion of the activities of the Myanmar Civil Service Academy to get underway in January 2017, H.E. Dr. Win Thein has specially requested that EDS and Akamai make necessary arrangements to dispatch trainers and instructors to participate in upgrading the qualifications and knowledge of Myanmar civil servants. In collaboration with Akamai University President, Dr. Douglass Capogrossi, Dr. Ben Lee, President and CEO of EDS Business School, will undertake immediate interaction with Dr. Win Thein, to determine the strongest collaboration possible in support of the Civil Service mission in Myanmar.

The Bachelor of Education (Final Year) tuition fee is US$3,900 on full payment upon registration; and it is US$4,200 if paid by three installments plus Application Fee of USD100.

Venue for International Residential Class is at EDS Executive Learning Centre, IOI Boulevard, Puchong, Kuala Lumpur.

Students are requires to attend three compulsory residential studies session. Each residential session consist of 6-day intensive tutorial seminar.

For each residential students need to pay USD690 to cover the cost of hotel accommodation for 8 days and 7 nights in twin-sharing room, breakfast and lunch during the studies session and other miscellaneous cost.

EDU 501: Leadership in Educational Institutions (3 credits) 
This course examines current concepts, research, and philosophies of educational leadership. The goal is to promote teacher-leadership in effective teaching and learning and influence in local educational policies and programs. This course provides teachers with the knowledge and skills to be leaders in their classrooms and schools, make teaching and learning more effective throughout their school and district, and to successfully advocate for and influence local educational policies and programs. Students are encouraged to become self -directed learners 3 who engage other professionals, networks, organizations, and resources related to the issues of the class. Students choose an issue to investigate in detail, using professional resources in building a case study project report.

EDU 509: Field Study in Educational Leadership (3 credits) 
Students in Educational Leadership investigate the core tasks and responsibilities in the field of Educational Leadership through close contact with practitioners and the tasks and roles of an administrator in an educational institution. Students may pursue field study through a supervised practice, advanced field study or other external exploration under the direction of a qualified mentor and an approved field site sponsor. Graduate students participate in the field study for a minimum of 45-50 contact hours per Akamai University semester credit. The field placement is expected to afford students appropriate practical hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of the profession. Students complete a daily journal and prepare a scholarly paper summarizing their findings for the field study.

EDU 591: Professional Portfolio Project (3 credits) 
Participants assess the relevant elements of their background and training and prepare a major presentation of their professional portfolio and CV under the mentorship of management faculty. Participants gather supporting documentation and present a formal portfolio presentation for review and commentary by faculty. The objective of this portfolio activity is to require the participant to reframe thinking regarding background and training to view transformational elements in professional achievements and advancements over the life of the management career. The chief outcome of the project is the presentation of a case study in essential elements of effective management with the participant's own background as the case study under investigation.

EDU 504: Human Resource Management in Education (3 credits) 
This class examines the role of the human resource manager in the field of educational leadership. Topic review effectiveness in employee acquisition and retention, work functions, workforce development, benefits and compensation, and employee relations are reviewed and analyzed. This course looks into the challenge of work place and workforce diversity as well as best practices and future trends in human resource administration within the educational leadership field. Topics review trends, best practices, and strategic importance of human resources in organizational effectiveness. Participants also explore laws and regulations applicable to HRM in education, as well as employee benefit programs, employee health and welfare, performance modification, employee discipline and employee compensation programs.

EDU 520: Introduction to Educational Administration and Governance (3 credits) 
This introductory course is designed for those who wish to become administrators of school systems. It is an overview of school administration in the American context. Topics to be examined include, the context of schooling in America, both public and private, overview of responsibilities and administrative processes; leadership, managerial, political and educational roles and educational administration in the 21st century; the culture of school and administration, governance, power, and influence structures; Federal and state government roles in education, policy making, legal and financial issues.

EDU 523: Managing Educational Resources (3 credits) 
This is a practical course in applying business management principles to the management of the resources in the school system. Skills will be developed in financial management, accounting, auditing, computerized business management systems, salary schedules, budgeting procedure managing the use of facilities, and pupil transportation.

EDU 527: The School Principalship (3 credits) 
This course examines the roles and responsibilities of the school principal and the issues of those roles from practical and theoretical perspectives. Topics include, instructional leadership, ethical and moral leadership, leadership in technology and curriculum development, staff development, policy development, and community relations. Case studies, projects and papers are required.

EDU 540: A Comprehensive Introduction to Curriculum (3 credits) 
This is an introductory course in curriculum for teachers. The aim of the course is to integrate the theoretical conceptions of curriculum into classroom practice. Participants will examine conceptions of curriculum, developing and selecting learning opportunities, implementing curriculum change, evaluating the curriculum, the politics of curriculum making and trends, and issues and research of curriculum making. Participants will demonstrate knowledge by designing and developing a curriculum of their choice.

EDU 546: Models of Teaching and Learning (3 credits) 
The aim of this course is to present to the teacher a wide selection of teaching models or approaches to teaching that teachers can effectively use to develop curriculum, design instructional materials and assist them in the day to day and long term instruction in the classroom. Topics include: where models of teaching come from, how to classify and apply them, the generic social models, information processing models, personal family models, and behavioral system models. At the conclusion of this course, participants will demonstrate that they can apply various models of teaching and learning in their classroom.

EDU 552: Informed Decision Making in Education (3 credits) 
This class focuses on using data to augment the decision making process for school improvement. Topics emphasize the simultaneous use and analysis of multiple data streams to guide leaders through curriculum alignment development and enhancement, supervision of instruction, and targeted professional development for teachers, administrators, and support staff.

EDU 553: Quality Assurance in Education (3 credits) 
This class examines the how quality assurance is seen as part of the public responsibility for higher education. Topics examine the contributions of policy makers and practitioners consider the role of quality assurance as an element of higher education governance Students explore the function quality assurance in the recognition of qualifications. Case studies are used to illustrate various aspects in different national settings.

EDU 561: Handling Social Problems in Education (3 credits) 
Sociological and social-psychological theories, concepts, and research will be studied to define, ground, identify causes and consequences of social disorganization (e.g., addictions, juvenile delinquency, poverty, hunger, mental illness, homelessness, road rage, bullying, school and family violence, slavery, terrorism) in society's institutions. Specific topics, readings, and projects will be determined in collaboration with the student.

Such applicants will be required to submit appropriate letters of recommendation verifying they have the necessary capability and motivation to successfully complete the program within the allotted time span. Applicants accepted in the absence of the Bachelor's degree will be required by the University to add missing elements to the minimum program, as a condition for admission.

Graduation Requirements
Minimum Duration: 18 months
The minimum credit requirement for a MBA Degree is 120 *ECTS credits beyond the Bachelor degree. Students are required to attend all of the tutorial seminars and successfully completed all the coursework assignments as outlined below:

*European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. 

Methods of Assessment 

Each module will have a four-part grading scheme:
 • Class Attendance and Participation - 20% marks
 • Class Homework / Quiz (to give at end of 1st day or quiz on second day) - 20% marks
 • Self-Reflection Log / Blog - 30% (Submitted to EDS Registrar, Ms LK Tan @ within 7 days after attending the 2-day tutorial seminar.)
 • Online Exam - 30% (The online exam will be conduct within 30 days after the Residential Seminar.)

EURO COLLEGE ranks the 12th best Higher Education Institution in Macedonia. The 2013-14 Ranking of Macedonian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) was commissioned by Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Macedonia in 2013 and released on February 25, 2014. Twenty qualified HEIs were included in the ranking. The Euro College tuition fee is US$4,900 on full payment upon registration; and it is US$5,200 if paid by three installments. Plus USD600 for MBA thesis supervisor fee and USD120 Registration Fee.

Residential Fees in Penang and Bangkok
MBA students are required to attend three residential studies and the venue will be alternate between Penang and Bangkok.

For each residential studies session students need to pay USD850 to cover the cost of hotel accommodation for 8 days and 7 nights in twin-sharing room, breakfast & lunch during the studies session and other miscellaneous cost.

Special MBA Policies and Procedures

Attendance Policy Attendance at all support seminars is compulsory. On occasion, where participants must miss a scheduled seminar due to illness, personal, family or business emergencies, they may petition for permission to attend the replacement seminar either in another city or in the next program cycle. Attendance facilitates maximum interaction among participants and encourages personal and academic development.

Special Refund Policy

As a special provision within the Asia Pacific Region, MBA tuition fees paid are refundable up to 60 days from date of application, provided that the student issues a written notification discontinuing the program and requesting a refund to the EDS Business School headquarters in Penang, Malaysia postmarked before the end of the period allowed.

Student Services: Financial
Questions by participants concerning fees and tuition payments, amounts and policies, should be directed to EDS Business School headquarters in Penang, Malaysia or to Euro College. Participants may request the organization coordinating the support seminars to intervene on their behalf with the University, by providing such authorization in written format.

Student Services: Academic
Questions by students concerning academic policies, procedures and standards, and regarding course modules, locations and manner of instruction may be directed either to EDS Business School headquarters in Penang, Malaysia or Euro College, whichever is appropriate to the student.

Maximum Time Allowance
Special MBA participants are allowed a duration of up to three years from the official date of registration to complete all required elements of the program.
